Rugby

One of the bigger stadiums is about 20 minutes from our house, we went to our first game tonight to see the local premiere team play. The springboks play here when they are in town. I'm sure everyone knows who the springboks are and is tracking them closely in the World Cup that started today.... USA is actually playing in it, but they haven't a chance

Ivan speaks!

Ivan said his first word today! And it was really two words: "is it". We play a game (I posted a video) where I put a small toy under a cup and say "where is it?" Well, he was playing with a little toy today and he put it down and spread his hands in the "where is it?" motion, and said "izzit?"

Which is cool because that also makes him sound like a little South African. Here, they say "is it?" like we'd say "really?" for example "I went on a 25-km hike on Table Mountain yesterday!" "Is it!"

Also, he can walk halfway across a small room now, so he's arguably walking.

Metamorphosis

Soon after we moved into the house, we caught two tadpoles from the little pond in our yard that's full of 'em. We wanted to watch them change into frogs, and also see what kind of frogs they turned out to be. Well the time is near! As you can see, there are legs and arms, and according to the Internet, once you see arms, the tads are very close to leaving the water. Anyway, a little wildlife break from the usual kid pics.

Almost springtime

Bath and fast asleep

Nora loves her birthday presents

We got her purple butterfly wings, a mini cook set, and a teeny tiny doll house. All big hits. Now if we could only get her to stop playing with them and go to bed...

Happy birthday Nora!!!

What a three year-old!

They made this poster for her birthday at school.

We made cupcakes for  her whole class last night and she brought them to school today and was very excited about that. She said everyone loved the cupcakes and was impressed that they ALL got eaten.

More birthday pics to come. We're going to open presents when Dadu gets home and are making pancakes for dinner!
