while i certainly appreciate jess' positive tone and up to date reporting, there is a darker side of the bathroom remodel that may be under represented as of late. take last saturday morning for example, when i found there was a moderate leak coming from the bathtub/shower joint fixture. i found the leak in the garage where i have very limited access to the plumbing. once discovered it was something that had to be resolved asap. the leak was right behind the tile, and there was no way i was going to re-do any tile or grout. i used the window as a reference point to figure out where the problem was and grabbed the circular saw. i anticipated cutting a giant hole before actually getting access to the plumbing but it didn't end up being too bad. it was also kind of fun to just carve a hole in the side of the house. why did the leak happen? because i didn't finalize the bath exterior plumbing before finishing the tile, and i over tightened some screws when putting the 'face' on. so many lessons learned... it only took two trips to the store to fix the leak, which seemed like progress. now i just need to figure out how to patch the gaping hole in the side of the house.
the offending leak came from the pvc on the left hand side, i probably should have just replaced it entirely
the neighbors must have loved watching me do this
not the worst case scenario at the end of the day, but not exactly rainbows and unicorns
