i learned a valuable lesson yesterday: if you ever see an eagle on the side of the road picking at a coyote carcass, be sure to slow down. that eagle may just decide to take flight and slowly cross the road. it turns out these large birds of prey don't gain elevation so fast and may not clear the top of your vehicle. on the good side, after some hopping about to gather its wits, the eagle did end up flying away. i would estimate i was going around 50 mph at collision time. happy new year

Wowza! That's quite the impact... knowing how thin bird bones are, I'm amazed it flew away. Glad you were safe, too.
